Why add the 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar From the Great Montana Collection NGC MS63 to your collection?
This 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar achieved the solid Mint State 63 (MS63) collector grade from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The coin was struck on a .900 pure silver planchet containing .7734 oz. of silver bullion. The New Orleans Mint was established in 1838 and supplied circulating coinage to Southern and Western states. The 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar had a total mintage of 9,185,000 coins.
Iconic Liberty Design
The design of the Morgan Silver Dollar was a departure from the previous designs on the U.S. Trade dollar and the Seated varieties previously struck. This obverse features a portrait of Liberty's head, as envisioned by George T. Morgan. The portrait was modeled by teacher Anna Williams. The reverse featured on the series was less of a design departure and favored the powerful bald eagle designs of preceeding silver dollars. The iconic eagle is featured holding an olive branch and arrows. The Morgan design adds a laurel wreath surrounding the eagle.
MS63 quality example from the Great Montana Colleciton
MS63, also known as "Choice Uncirculated" coins are fully uncirculated examples. They betray no trace of wear and are lustrous, attractive examples with some contact marks and average strike quality. The Great Montana Collection was curated by sound money advocate and Morgan collector George Bouvier.
