Why add this Morgan 1885-O Silver Dollar from the Great Montana Collection to your collection?
George Bouvier of Deer Lodge, Montana quietly assembled one of the largest private coin hoards in American history. Consisting of over 17,000 pieces, the collection was uncovered in 1998 after Bouvier's friend relayed the information, which Bouvier passed on from his deathbed, to his family. This 1885-O Morgan gives you the chance to share in this discovery. The coin was struck from a 1 oz. planchet of .900 fine silver at the New Orleans Mint, which is represented by an "O" mint mark on the reverse. Historic Liberty design by George T. Morgan
The coin's designer, George T. Morgan, lends his name to this historic American coin. It is beloved among collectors in part due to the fact that Morgan opted for an American-style model for Liberty rather than a traditional Greek-style figure. A Phrygian cap covers much of her curly hair, and she also dons a crown made from a pair of staple American crops, cotton and wheat. A laurel wreath frames an eagle on the reverse.
Choice Uncirculated MS63 Toned
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified this coin, and the toning makes it completely unique. NGC also gave it a choice uncirculated grade of Mint State 63, which means that it shows no signs of wear.
