Why Order This MS63 Toned 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar from the Great Montana Collection CPCR 6016 for Your Collection?
Today, many see the Morgan silver dollar as a reminder of the Wild West era of United States history. These coins were issued for circulation during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Each one is 90% silver and they were struck at a number of U.S. Mint branches over the years. The New Orleans Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1885. The specimen shown here was taken from a hoard, the Great Montana Collection. It also displays toning, which some collectors find very desirable. The coin pictured here is the one you will receive when you order.
Morgan's Iconic Silver Dollar Designs
The name Morgan dollar comes from the fact that both sides of this coin were designed by George T. Morgan. Liberty is depicted on the obverse, she can be seen wearing a small cap. The lower portion of the design shows the date and 13 stars.
If you're looking for the mintmark or face value, both of these are located on the reverse near the bottom of the design. This side shows a bald eagle partially surrounded by a wreath.
This Morgan dollar was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. After it was carefully examined, it received the grade of Mint State 63 for its choice uncirculated condition.
