Why purchase this Silver 1885-O Morgan Dollar From the Great Montana Collection?
One of the biggest private coin collections in American history was assembled quietly by George Bouvier of Deer Lodge, Montana. Bouvier never even told his family about the collection, instead disclosing it to a family friend from his deathbed. That friend passed on the information, and the hoard was uncovered in 1998. Now, you can own a piece of it with this 1885-O Morgan. Struck on a .7734 oz. planchet of .900 fine silver, this coin bears the New Orleans Mint's "O" mint mark on the reverse. Pioneering Liberty Design by George T. Morgan
This Silver Dollar gets its name from the man who designed both faces of it, George T. Morgan. His obverse design is legendary thanks to his departure from the tradition of using Greek-style models for Liberty in favor of an American-style one. The figure's hair is largely covered by a Phrygian cap, and she also wears a crown of cotton and wheat. An eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch on the reverse.
Uncirculated MS63 Toned
This coin earned a choice uncirculated grade of Mint State 63 from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), which means that it lacks any signs of wear. The coin also does have some toning, a feature that appeals to numerous collectors.
