Why Add This MS63 Toned 1885-O Morgan Silver Dollar from the Great Montana Collection CPCR 4092 to Your Collection?
If there is one coin that many of us associate with the Wild West era of United States history, it's the Morgan silver dollar. These 90% silver coins were issued each year for circulation from 1878 through 1904. The 1885-O Morgan dollar shown here is actually a hoard coin. It was found as a part of the Great Montana Collection. In addition to its status as a hoard coin, it also displays toning. This is the result of a natural process some coins go through. The coin shown in the pictures here is the exact specimen you will receive when you order.
Exquisitely Detailed Works of Art by Morgan
These coins came to be known as Morgan dollars because the obverse and reverse designs were created by George T. Morgan. Liberty can be seen on the obverse, she's wearing a small cap in this portrait.
The reverse shows a bald eagle in a unique position. It has its wings high in the air as it holds arrows and an olive branch with its talons.
