Why add this Morgan Silver Dollar struck in 1885 to your collection?

Designed by George T. Morgan, the Morgan Dollar was first issued in 1878. Throughout the duration of the series, the coin was struck at five different Mint locations, with the lowest mintages most often produced by the U.S. Mint's Carson City branch. Having a final reported mintage of only 228,000, this 1885 dated Morgan Dollar is among the lowest mintage to carry a Carson City Mint mark. The coin is struck from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver with a diameter measuring 38.1 mm.

Beautiful Image of Lady Liberty

Featured on the obverse is Lady Liberty facing left, hair ornamented with wheat stalks and oak leaves, wearing Phrygian cap and a hair band inscribed "LIBERTY." The image is surrounded by "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1885" and thirteen stars.

On the reverse, a wreath curves beneath a magnificent eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows in its talons, with the Carson City Mint mark "CC" below, "IN GOD WE TRUST" above. Additional inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR."

Spectacular Mint State 64

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has determined this beautiful example of an 1885 Morgan Silver Dollar struck at the Carson City Mint to be in Mint State 64 condition. The coin exhibits a few scuff marks, average luster and even strike, with excellent eye appeal. The Silver Dollar is protected in a labeled NGC holder.
