The Morgan silver dollar is among the most iconic classic U.S. coins. They were first issued in 1878 and annual production continued through 1904. They were also minted for a single year in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1884. Mintage of this coin was moderate. The final mintage figure for this dollar was 9,730,000 pieces.

Morgan's Inspiring Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs

Liberty is pictured facing the left on the obverse. She is wearing a cap in this design and has finely detailed hair. This classic design is the work of George T. Morgan. Thirteen stars can be seen around the date.

The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" can be seen near the top of the design on the reverse. It's between the tips of an eagle's wings. This bald eagle design was also created by Morgan.
