Why Add This MS63 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar in a GSA Holder to Your Collection?

The Morgan silver dollar is very widely collected. Many see these classic U.S. coins as a symbol of the Wild West. The Morgan dollar offered here was struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1884. There were 9,730,000 of these minted. This specimen was found as a part of the famous GSA Hoard. The Morgan dollars of the GSA Hoard were kept in government storage and forgotten until they were rediscovered decades later.

Morgan's Stunning Patriotic Designs

Both sides of this silver dollar display designs by George T. Morgan. His portrait of Liberty is on the obverse. The date is just below Liberty among 13 stars.

The design on the reverse depicts an eagle. It's clutching arrows and an olive branch with its talons as it holds its wings high. The New Orleans Mint's "O" mintmark is in the lower portion of the design.
