Why order this 1884-CC Silver Morgan Dollar?
The 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar was considered a rarity for decades. That changed with the release of the General Services Administration (GSA) hoard in the 1970's and 1980's. Nearly 85% of this mintage was released in the hoard, which makes this coin an excellent choice with a fascinating story.
Featuring George T. Morgan's Patriotic Liberty Design
Obverse: Both faces of this coin bear the designs of George T. Morgan, for whom it is named. On the obverse is a left-side portrait of Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap and a crown of cotton and wheat. Her effigy is encircled by thirteen stars and two inscriptions, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1884."
Reverse: A heraldic eagle holds arrows, symbols of military readiness, and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, on the reverse. An open wreath partially encircles the bird, and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed between its wings. Rim inscriptions offer the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR."

This coin comes in a holder that identifies it as part of the General Services Administration (GSA) Hoard. Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded the piece Mint State 63. That means that it has about an average strike and lacks any traces of wear.
