Why order this Silver 1883 Morgan Dollar?

Own a piece from the fifth anniversary Morgan Silver Dollar issue with this piece from 1883. The Morgan series helped to heal a nation following a divisive Civil War, serving to give the country a sense of identity and unity. This piece was struck from .7734 oz of .900 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint. It was part of a mintage of 12,290,000 pieces.

Featuring George T. Morgan's Patriotic Liberty Design

George T. Morgan broke with the long standing tradition of depicting Liberty as a Greek-style figure by choosing Anna Willess Williams, an American-style figure, as his model. She faces left wearing a crown, a Phrygian cap, and a ribbon that bears an inscription of her name. The crown is a symbol of unity, as it consists of cotton, a Southern crop, and wheat, a Northern one. The Phrygian cap indicates that she is a freed slave. A statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the date, "1883," are inscribed along the rim, connected by thirteen stars, symbols of the original states.

On the reverse is a heraldic eagle that stretches its wings toward the edge. In its claws, the bird clutches arrows, symbols of America's readiness to defend her values, and an olive branch, which expresses a desire for peace. Partially encircling the eagle is an open wreath. Between the bird's wings is an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Additional reverse inscriptions, which are on the rim, offer the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR."

Beautifully Preserved MS65

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin a grade of Mint State 65. That grade indicates that a coin was well struck and has no traces of wear.
