Why add this 1883 Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection of historic American coinage?

The Morgan Silver Dollar is named for its designer, George T. Morgan, an assistant engraver at the U.S. Mint at the time of the introduction of the series. Morgan succeeded Charles Barber as Chief Engraver in 1917, holding the position until 1925. Struck from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver, this Morgan Dollar is one of 12,290,000 produced by the Philadelphia Mint in 1883.

Beautifully Detailed Patriotic Design

Lady Liberty's graceful image adorns the obverse, wearing a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY" paired with a Phrygian cap. "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1883," and thirteen stars surround the portrait.

The reverse illustrates an eagle posed with outstretched wings, holding an olive branch and three arrows. A wreath wraps below, tied at the center with a ribbon. The imagery is accompanied by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR
