Why order this Morgan 1883-O Silver Dollar?
Collectors and non-collectors alike continue to love and appreciate the Morgan Silver Dollar. The first coin to depict Liberty as an American style figure rather than a Greek style one ,it helped to unite a nation that had just recently been divided by a civil war. This coin comes from the fifth anniversary issue of the series.
Iconic Liberty Design by George T. Morgan
Obverse: George T. Morgan departed from tradition with his obverse design by showing Liberty as an American-style figure. On her head are a Phrygian cap, a ribbon that bears an inscription of her name, and a crown of cotton and wheat. Thirteen stars join the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1883" on the rim.
Reverse: Morgan's reverse design consists of an open wreath partially encircling an eagle, which holds arrows and an olive branch. Between the bird's outstretched wings is an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Encircling all of this are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR."
Well Maintained MS63
This coin earned a Mint State 63 grade form the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That grade means that a coin has about an average strike and lacks even traces of wear.
