Why Order This MS63 Toned 1883-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Silver Dollar?

In 1883, the Morgan silver dollar shown here was struck at the New Orleans branch of the U.S. Mint. There were 8,725,000 of them struck but obviously only a portion of those remain today. These 90% silver coins have been a favorite of collectors for decades. The specimen shown here has additional qualities that add to its appeal. The most obvious is that it displays toning. Some coins tone naturally as they age and many collectors prefer a nicely toned specimen. This coin was also found among the coins of the Great Montana Collection. This 17,000 piece hoard was found in 1998.

Morgan's Exquisite Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs

The date is displayed on the obverse. It actually forms part of the border near the bottom of the design. Both sides of this coin were designed by George T. Morgan. This side shows a depiction of Liberty.

The reverse is where the face value can be found. The "O" mintmark is just above it. This side also displays a bald eagle. This eagle is partially surrounded by a wreath as it holds its wings high.

MS63 Toned

The experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation certified this toned coin. They assigned it the grade of Mint State 63, which means this specimen is in choice uncirculated condition.
