Why Make This MS63 Toned 1883-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Silver Dollar a Part of Your Collection?

The U.S. Mint struck Morgan silver dollars annually from 1878 through 1904. They were also struck later for a single year in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck this 90% silver coin in 1883. There were 8,725,000 of these minted. Compared to the mintage figures of other Morgan dollars, this number is moderate. As you may have noticed, the specimen offered here displays toning. This is the result of a natural process some coins experience. This piece was also taken from the Great Montana Collection. This massive coin hoard contained thousands of classic silver dollars, it was discovered in 1998.

Stunning Classic American Designs

Both sides of this coin display the work of George T. Morgan. That's where the name Morgan dollar comes from. Liberty is pictured here, the date is just below her.

A bald eagle is pictured on the reverse. It's holding its wings high and a detailed wreath partially surrounds it. The "O" mintmark is located between the wreath and the face value inscription.

MS63 Toned
