Why Make This MS63 Toned 1883-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Silver Dollar the Next Addition to Your Collection?
The Morgan silver dollar was a part of daily life for millions of Americans in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many today see them as relics from an intriguing period of United States history. The Morgan dollar shown here was struck in 1883 at the New Orleans branch of the U.S. Mint. It had a moderate mintage of 8,725,000 pieces. However, the specimen offered here displays toning. That means the color of its surface has changed over time; many collectors prefer this look. Additionally, it was found as a part of the Great Montana Collection. This hoard was recovered in 1998.
Exquisite Iconic Designs on Obverse and Reverse
Both sides of this coin display the work of George T. Morgan, which is where the name Morgan dollar came from. The date is at the bottom of the design among 13 stars.
If you're looking for the "O" mintmark, it can be found on the reverse just above the face value. This side features Morgan's depiction of a bald eagle.
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation was chosen to grade this Morgan dollar. Since it's in uncirculated condition with few visible flaws, it was assigned the grade of Mint State 63.
