Why Choose This MS62 1883-CC GSA Morgan Silver Dollar?
The Morgan silver dollar continues to be one of the most widely collected classic U.S. coins. These silver dollars were first issued in 1878. The specimen offered here was struck at the Carson City Mint in 1883. There were 1,204,000 of these minted. This coin also happens to be from the GSA hoard. These coins were forgotten in federal vaults for decades until they were rediscovered and sold to collectors.
Morgan's Classic Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs
These coins are known as Morgan dollars because George T. Morgan is the artist who created the obverse and reverse designs. His portrait of Liberty is displayed on the obverse. The date is just below her neck.
The face value is on the reverse and the "CC" mint mark can be found just above it. A bald eagle is depicted here holding its wings high as it grasps arrows and an olive branch with its talons.
