The U.S. Mint's Morgan Silver Dollar series was produced from 1878 until 1921, with a break in mintage from 1905 until 1920. This Morgan Dollar is a product of the San Francisco Mint, struck in 1882 from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver, its mintage reported by the Mint to be 9,250,000 coins.

The female personification of Liberty is depicted on the obverse wearing a "LIBERTY" inscribed crown and a Phrygian cap, along with a garland of oak leaves, wheat grains and cotton blossoms. The portrait is framed by thirteen stars, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1882."
The reverse features the image of a Bald Eagle, boldly posed with outstretched wings, as it grasps an olive branch and arrows. Inscribed "IN GOD WE TRUST," "ONE DOLLAR," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the "S" Mint mark of the San Francisco Mint.
