Why add this Mint State 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection?

This stunning example of the U.S. Mint's Silver Morgan Dollar is one of 11,100,000 struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1882. It is also one of the 8,000 silver dollars among the 17,000 coin cache that is known as the Great Montana Collection. The collection was discovered stashed in coffee cans that were concealed within the walls and under the floorboards of the home of the late George Bouvier of Deer Lodge, Montana. Bouvier opted to keep his hoard in close proximity due to his mistrust in the banking system.

Exceptional Designs by George T. Morgan, U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver

The obverse features an elegant portrait of Lady Liberty crowned with a headband inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." Her hair is adorned with leaves and blossoms to symbolize the importance of agriculture to the growing nation. The image is surrounded by thirteen stars, "1882" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

A heraldic eagle graces the reverse, grasping an olive branch and arrows, partially encircled by a ribbon bound laurel wreath. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The lack of Mint mark indicates striking at the Philadelphia Mint.

Gorgeous Mint State 63

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this Philadelphia struck 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar an impressive Mint State 63. The coin has been further authenticated by NGC as part of George Bouvier's Great Montana Collection.
