This 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is an attractive option for collectors who want an historic coin in good condition without breaking the bank. Many of the Carson City Morgans from 1882 were stored by the Mint and were not released to the public until the General Services Administration sales of the 1970s. The result is that a relatively high number of them remain in mint state. The reverse of the coin features an eagle grasping talons and an olive branch. The national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is inscribed between its upstretched wings, while a wreath partially encircles it below. Just under the base of the wreath is the famed “CC” Mint mark of the Carson City Mint, an attractive distinction for many collectors. On the obverse, which, like the reverse, was designed by George T. Morgan, Liberty is depicted facing the left side of the coin. Her long hair covers the back of her neck, though much of the hair on her head is covered by a Phrygian cap. Just in front of the cap is a ribbon that bears the name “LIBERTY.” With a grade of MS63, this coin’s luster is just slightly impaired, if at all, and it has several contact marks, most of which are small and scattered.
