Why add the 1882 $10 Gold Liberty Head NGC MS63 to your collection?

This 1882 $10 Gold Liberty Head Coin was graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) at the desirable Mint State 63 (MS63) level. The Liberty Head Eagle was struck by the U.S. Mint on 90% gold planchets from 1838 until 1907. Each coin in the series contains .4837 oz. of gold bullion. As of March 13th, 2020, the NGC census report only 1,085 coins in this grade. The mintage is a high 2,324,440 coins struck but many of the survivors are in lower grades.

"With Motto" Reverse Design

Third Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, Christian Gobrecht's spectacular design is one of the longest running in the history of the U.S. Lady Liberty appears on the obverse of the coin. She is depicted wearing a small inscribed crown. Her hair is gathered in a bun tied with a strand of pearls. The reverse features a stunning Heraldic Eagle. The motto "In God We Trust" appears above the eagle which holds the olive branch of Peace and a cluster of arrows in his talons.

Mint State 63 coins are examples with full design details. They have average strikes and have contact or "bag" marks, scuffs, hairlines or distractions due to the coin's history of being stored in bags in bank vaults overseas. They will often exhibit good mint luster.
