Why add this beautifully struck 1880-CC Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection of historic American coinage?

George T. Morgan was the seventh Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. In 1878, while serving as an assistant under Chief Engraver William Barber, Morgan designed the coin that he is most recognized for, the Morgan Dollar. Mintage of this 1880 release produced at the Carson City Mint is reported to be 591,000 coins, each struck from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver.

Incredibly Detailed Patriotic Imagery

The obverse features a Liberty-themed design, illustrated by a portrait of the female personification of Liberty, wearing a "LIBERTY" inscribed crown and a Phrygian cap, which is a symbol dating back to the era of the Roman Republic representing... Liberty! "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1880" and thirteen stars frame the image.

The reverse depicts an eagle with its wings outstretched, bearing the gift of an olive branch and three arrows. A wreath wraps under the eagle, with the Mintmark for Carson City Mint "CC" below and "IN GOD WE TRUST" above. The imagery is surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR."

Impressive Mint State 63

This beautiful Carson City struck 1880 Morgan Silver Dollar has been graded Mint State 63 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The coin features an average strike, exhibiting several varied marks or hairlines and is presented in a labeled NGC protective holder.
