Why add this 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection?

The United States Mint introduced the silver dollar series featuring designs created by George T. Morgan in 1878. The Morgan Dollar was minted continuously through 1904, returning for a final year of issue after the First World War in 1921. This second year of issue example is a product of the San Francisco Mint. Containing 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver, the coin is one of the 9,110,000 Morgan Silver Dollars released in 1879 with the "S" Mint mark.

Magnificent Patriotic Design

Morgan's personification of Liberty is centered on the obverse, her hair entwined with a garland of oak leaves, wheat grains and cotton blossoms. She wears a Phrygian cap with "LIBERTY" inscribed upon the headband. Thirteen stars, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1879" surround the portrait.

An eagle holding an olive branch and three arrows is depicted on the reverse. A laurel wreath curves around the creature, with San Francisco's Mint mark "S" below. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "ONE DOLLAR."

Stunning Mint State 63 Silver Dollar

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) awarded this 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar coin the impressive grade of Mint State 63. Expect the coin to possess a superb strike, featuring gorgeously detailed designs and spectacular eye appeal. The silver dollar is presented in a sonically sealed protective holder accompanied by a PCGS certification label.
