Why add this superbly graded 1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection?

The U.S. Mint introduced the Morgan Silver Dollar series in 1878, prompted by the mid-19th century discovery of vast amounts of silver in the western region of the United States. Design of the series is credited to George T. Morgan, an assistant engraver who was appointed as the Mint's seventh Chief Engraver in 1917.

  • This first year of issue Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1878.
  • The 38.1 mm diameter coin contains 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver.
  • Final mintage is reported to be 9,774,000 coins.
  • The silver dollar coin features NGC's new Green Label, which was the result of a unique collaboration between RARCOA and NGC.
