Why add the 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar graded Mint State 64 by PCGS to your collection?
The 1878-CC Morgan Dollar was the first year of issue for this classic U.S. series. This 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar was given the high Mint State 64 grade by the industry leaders at the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). The coin was struck at the legendary Carson City Mint. The Mint is well-known to have struck lower mintage silver coinage with Comstock Lode silver. All examples of the 1878-CC Morgan feature the "7 tail feather reverse." The coin has a mintage of 2,212,000 and was included in the GSA Morgan Silver Dollar hoard. The coin was struck on a .900 fine silver planchet containing .7734 oz. of silver.
Classic coin design for the most popular Silver Dollar series in history
George T. Morgan's classic silver dollar obverse features the portrait of Anna Williams, a Philadelphia school teacher modeling as Lady Liberty. The reverse of the coin features a Heraldic Eagle beneath the words "In God We Trust."
Spectacular Mint State 64 example
Mint State 64 coins tend to have slightly better than average strike and eye appeal. These are lustrous examples and may have some bag marks present. Contact marks or flaws are typically small, and are not distracting. They may be in non-focal areas of the design. Overall, coins of this grade are appealing, clean, attractive and are welcome additions in high-quality collections.
