Why add this 1877 1c Indian Head Cent NGC F15 BN to your collection?

This 1877 1c Indian Head Cent is a classic piece that should be a part of any collection of American coins. It represents the key to the Indian Head cent series, and is very scarce. Because of its high value compared to the other coins of this series, is one of the most counterfeited of all United States coins, thus should be purchased in a certified holder such as this coin.

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin features two designs by James B. Longacre. The obvers bears the image that gives the coin its name. It features Liberty, whom Longacre designed using his daughter Sarah as a model, donning a feathered tiara. Along the base of the tiara, her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed. The year of mintage, “1877,” is inscribed under the effigy, while “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches around the rim. On the reverse, the words “ONE CENT” are inscribed at the center. They are encircled by an oak wreath. At the bottom of the wreath is a bow, which holds three arrows, which serve to represent the three branches of the American government, and an olive branch, which represents peace. The wreath is open at the top, where a union shield fills the void. Grow your collection of historical American coins today by adding this piece to your collection.
