Why order this 1877-1907 $20 Liberty Head (With Motto) Gold Double Eagle?

Every collector of historic American coins should own a $20 1877-1907 Liberty Head (With Motto) Gold Double Eagle. The coin was issued for more than half a century, including through the most tumultuous time in American history, the Civil War. Your coin may come from any year of issue. Regardless of the year, though, it will have an actual gold weight of .9675 oz. and be struck from .900 fine gold.

Iconic Liberty Design by James Longacre

James Longacre designed both faces of this coin. As with many other American coins, it features Liberty on the obverse. Longacre modeled the figure in the Greco-Roman style. She wears a headpiece that bears an inscription of her name. Thirteen stars spread throughout the rim, leaving room at the bottom for the date.

On the reverse, a heraldic eagle protects a union shield. While some double eagles lack the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," it will be inscribed above the bird's head on your coin. Thirteen stars encircle the motto.

Uncirculated MS62

This coin has a weak to average strike and no traces of wear, but it does have some abrasions. That is why the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation graded it Mint State 62.
