Why add this United States (1861-1865) Our Army Civil War Token to your collection?

This undated (1861-1865) U.S. Our Army Civil War Token was one of several tokens issued privately during the Civil War to account for the lack of availability of government-issued pennies. It is a patriotic token and would make the perfect addition to the collection of anyone who has an interest in or passion for the Civil War era.

Timely Pro-Union designs

The obverse of the coin features the design that is very similar to the Indian head penny, which was first released a few years before the start of the Civil War. It features Liberty wearing a feathered headdress that is similar to one that Native Americans might wear. She has long, full hair. In a nod to the Union, thirteen stars, which symbolize the original states, are spread around the rim.

At the center of the reverse is the inscription "OUR ARMY." Above it is a star. Encircling it is a closed wreath with fifteen tulips.

Uncirulated Mint State 64 Red Brown

This coin received the middling uncirculated grade of Mint State 64 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That grade indicates that the coin has an average or better strike and some moderate hairlines or marks, as well as some smaller ones. NGC identifies its color as Red Brown. This slabbed coin was placed inside of a story vault holder to further promote its history!
