Why should you purchase this $20 Canal Bank Note produced during the 1850’s?
This $20 note was produced by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edison, a note design company, for the Canal Bank in New Orleans. Produced sometime during the 1850’s, this note features highly detailed vignettes on the obverse and reverse of the note. Beautiful vignettes on currency was common during this time. Designers would compete against each other’s work in order to appear the best, leading to masterful art appearing on common currency. This is clearly seen on this note, as well as through the artistic text used to state the bank of origin, denomination, and obligation to pay the bearer $20.
This note was never actually issued however, causing it to remain in excellent condition over the years. Now, 150 years later, it is still in crisp, uncirculated condition!
