Why Add This MS62 1839-1908 Liberty Head $10 Gold Eagle to Your Collection?

There may not be any in circulation today, but for a significant portion of our nation's history it was normal to have some gold coins in circulation. One of the longest running types includes the coin shown here. These are the Liberty Head $10 Eagle coins. They are also sometimes referred to as Coronet Head Eagles. This type of $10 Eagle was minted from 1839 to 1908. Unlike the $20 Double Eagle gold coins, many $10 Eagle coins saw a lot of circulation.

  • The $10 Liberty Head Eagle is 90% gold.
  • These coins are a part of American history.
  • The specimen offered here was certified by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).

Classic Liberty Head Design

Obverse: The date on this type of coin is located on the obverse near the bottom edge of the design. Near the border of the design there are 13 stars symbolizing the original 13 colonies. Liberty is depicted at the center of the design. She has a small crown and her hair is pulled up and back.

Reverse: The design on the reverse shows a heraldic bald eagle. The eagle has a shield over its chest while it holds arrows and an olive branch with its talons. Versions of this coin were struck with and without the "IN GOD WE TRUST" motto.

MS62 from PCGS

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) assigned this coin the grade of Mint State 62. Coins assigned this grade are in uncirculated condition but are characterized by some very slight wear that is visible on some high points of the design.
