Powerful King Fernando Design

The obverse of the coin features a right-side portrait of King Fernando VII. The date, "1821," is inscribed below, while "FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA," ("Ferdnano VII, by the Grace of God").

On the reverse is a crowned arms shield. The shield is divided into five parts, each one with symbolism. It is flanked by pillars. Inscriptions on this face read, "HISPAN ET IND REX" (King of Spain and the Indies) and "Nueva Granada, 2 Reales M" ("Nueva Granada, 2 Reales M").
