Why order this 3-Piece Smithsonian 1794-2019 America's First Silver Dollar 1/2 oz Gold + Silver + Copper Proof Medals Set?

The first American coin ever struck is also one of the most valuable. A bronze dollar struck to test the dies of the first ever Silver Dollar issued, is estimated to be the world's most valuable coin. Although it is owned by the Smithsonian, which means that it hasn't been on the auction block, experts estimate that the coin would fetch over $20 million. Now, MCM exclusively offers you the opportunity to own pieces with those original US dollar designs. Authorized by the Smithsonian Institution, these medals weigh half an ounce each. The gold and silver pieces are both .999 fine. Each of these medals bears the Smithsonian Sun mint mark under the eagle, and all bear the same designs. Only 500 sets were issued, meaning that these coins will be treasured by the few who own them for decades to come.

Historic Liberty Design by Robert Scot

The obverse bears a right-side Liberty design by Robert Scot. Scot was inspired by Ben Franklin's 1781 Libertas Americana, a medal that he helped to design to reward those who fought with George Washington. "LIBERTY" and "1794-2019" are inscribed along the rim, linked by stars on both sides.

The reverse, which was also designed by Scot, features an eagle with its wings outstretched. It is encircled by a wreath of palm and olive branches, which represent victory and peace, respectively. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" encircles the wreath along the rim.

Flawless PF70 UC

All three pieces in this set received Proof 70 grades from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). To receive that grade, a coin or medal must be in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification. They also earned Ultra Cameo certifications, which are given to pieces that have especially sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields.
