1794-2019 Smithsonian - America's First Silver Dollar Copper Proof Medal GEM Proof
Why order this Copper 1794-2019 Smithsonian America's First Silver Dollar Proof Medal?
The most valuable coin ever struck in the U.S was the first dollar. Ironically, it wasn't struck from silver or gold but from copper, as a test of the dies for the first ever Silver Dollar. Now on the 225th anniversary of that first strike, you have the chance to own a copper medal from the same metal as that original dollar. This medal is officially licensed by the Smithsonian and was struck at Commonwealth Mint. It will arrive in GEM Proof condition.
Exquisite Flowing Hair Liberty Design by Robert Scot
Both faces of this medal bear the designs of Robert Scot. On the obverse is Liberty in right-side profile. She has flowing hair, a design feature that was inspired by Ben Franklin's Libertas Americana. Two rim inscriptions, "LIBERTY" and the anniversary dates, "1794-2019," are connected by fifteen stars.
On the reverse, an eagle is perched inside a wreath of palm and olive. The palm branches represent victory, while the olive branches symbolize peace. The bird has its wings spread to its side. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed along the rim.
