Why add this NGC-certified Genuine 1771 Russia Copper 5 Kopeks to your collection?

This large copper coin was issued by Russia. It was struck in 1771 by the Ekaterinburg Mint. During this period, Russia had some impressive minting technology for the time. They were able to produce many more coins than the U.S. Mint did during its early years. This coin was issued during the rule of Catherine the Great. It has a face value of 5 Kopeks. To give some perspective of how large this coin is, it weighs around 51 g.

Classic Russian design

The date can be found on the obverse. The design here shows a monogram with a crown. The date is split and half is on each side of the monogram.

The design on the reverse displays a two-headed eagle. There is a crown at the top and both of the eagle's heads have crowns as well. Below and to either side, you can see the Mint mark, "EM."

Certified Genuine by NGC

This 1771 5 Kopeks coin was encapsulated and authenticated by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). It was certified as Genuine after it was examined by their team of experts.
