Why Order This VF25 1647 Netherlands New York Lion Dollar with an Exclusive New World Label?

The U.S. silver dollar had a number of predecessors and one of them was the Lion Dollar issued by the Netherlands. Today they are known as Lion Dollars, but during the time they were in circulation they were Lion Daalders. This silver Lion Dollar was minted in 1647.

Iconic Rampant Lion Design

The design on the reverse shows a knight with a shield. The shield has a lion design. The knight's outfit is quite detailed, although some of the details have been lost to wear from circulation.

If you're looking for the date, it can be found on the reverse at the top of the design. A ring of inscriptions forms a border and the central portion shows a lion rearing up with its mouth open.

NGC VF25 with an Exclusive New World Label

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation was chosen to grade this Lion Dollar. It received the grade of Very Fine 25, which is in the circulated section of their grading scale. This specimen is still easy to identify, but a number of details have been worn away. It has an exclusive New World Label to show its grade.
