Why order this 1641 Dutch Silver New York Lion Dollar?

This Silver 1641 Dutch New York Lion Dollar is perfect for collectors who appreciate the old coinage of the New World. It was struck from .7500 fine silver and weighs 27.63g. The Dollar, or "Daalder," as it was called at the time, remained popular in commerce even after the English came to dominate the eastern shores of North America.

Powerful Lion Rampant Design

A knight stands on the obverse. In front of his legs is a shield, which bears an image of a lion rampant, the powerful creature that appears on both the Dutch and Belgian coats of arms. Encircling the image are rim inscriptions that read, "MO. ARG. PRO. CONFOE. BELG.," which is an abbreviation that translates to "Silver money of the Province of the Netherlands."

A lion rampant stands alone on the reverse. It is encircled by more inscriptions along the rim. The lettering reads, "CONFIDENS. DNO. NON. MOVETVR," which means, "Who trusts in the Lord is not moved."

Well Preserved NGC AU Stained

The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this coin Almost Uncirculated (AU), meaning that it has slight wear on some of the designs but retains full details. There may be some minor softness on the high points. They also indicated that it was stained, which means that it has some discoloration but not corrosion.
