Why purchase this Extremely Fine Silver 3 Kreuzer coin of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I?

Leopold I was Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1658-1705. Leopold is remembered for the genetic defect known as mandibular prognathism, a facial deformity in which the lower jaw extends noticeably further than the upper mandible. Imagery on this 3 Kreuzer coin of Leopold is generally assumed to be an exaggeration of the Emperor's actual profile, and the source of his nickname, "The Hogmouth."

Distinctive Profile Portrait

Featured on the obverse is the wreathed bust of Leopold, clearly depicting his famous protruding lower jaw. Inscribed "LEOPOLDVS.D.G.R.I.S.A.G.H.B.R.," which means, "Leopold, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, always August, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia."

The reverse displays the Imperial Double Eagle, which is the symbol for the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg coat of arms, surrounded by Latin inscriptions with the date and titles held by Leopold.
