Why purchase this Uncirculated Silver 3 Kreuzer coin of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I?

Leopold I was Holy Roman Emperor from 1658-1705. Leopold is remembered most for his genetic defect known as mandibular prognathism, which is a facial deformity in which the lower jaw extends further than the upper. Imagery on this 3 Kreuzer coin of Leopold is generally regarded to be an exaggeration of the Emperor's actual profile, and thought to be the source of his nickname as "The Hogmouth."

Distinctive Profile Portrait

Featured on the obverse is the wreathed bust of Leopold, clearly depicting his protruding lower jaw. Inscribed "LEOPOLDVS.D.G.R.I.S.A.G.H.B.R." meaning "Leopold, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, always August, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia."

The reverse will depict the Imperial Double Eagle, which is the symbol for the Holy Roman Empire, or the Habsburg coat of arms, surrounded by Latin inscriptions describing the date and titles held by Leopold.
