Why purchase this Silver 3 Kreuzer coin of Emperor Ferdinand II?

The Holy Roman Empire was a collection of territories in central Europe, ruled by Ferdinand II of the House of Habsburg from 1619-1637. Ferdinand's reign is associated with the Thirty Years War, instigated by his effort to restore Catholicism as the Empire's only religion. This 3 Kreuzer Silver Coin of Ferdinand II was struck at the Graz Mint in 1626.

Portrait of the Emperor

The laureate image of Ferdinand II is featured on the obverse, surrounded by the inscription "FERDI II D G R I S A G H B REX" (Ferdinand II by the Grace of God Emperor of the Romans, King of Germany, Hungary and Bohemia), with the coin's denomination "3" in a circle.

Three shields are depicted on the reverse, illustrating the coat of arms of Austria, Burgundy and Styria. Inscribed "1626 ARCH AVS DVX BVR STYRIAE, meaning "Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Styria."

Uncirculated Coin in Story Vault Packaging

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has reviewed this 1626 Austria Ferdinand II Silver 3 Kreuzer coin and determined it to be in Uncirculated (UNC) condition, which equates to 60-62 on the Sheldon Scale. Due to reverse damage caused by an unknown source, NGC could not award the coin a numerical grade. The coin is presented in a labeled NGC holder and packaged in a Story Vault case beside an information card detailing Ferdinand's rule and influence.
