Why purchase this 1631 Austrian 3 Kreuzer Silver coin of Ferdinand II?

Ferdinand II was ruler of the Holy Roman Empire from 1619-1637, the eighth member of the House of Habsburg to hold the title. This Medieval Austrian Silver 3 Kreuzer coin struck during Ferdinand's reign weighs approximately 1.8 grams, measuring about 21 mm in diameter.

Clearly Defined Imperial Imagery

The image of Ferdinand II in a dramatic ruffled collar is centered on the obverse, above the Mint mark for Prague, a buoy in a small circle. The inscription "FERDI II D G R I S A G H B REX" frames the image, representing "Ferdinand II, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, always August, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia."

The emblem of the Holy Roman Empire, a double-headed Imperial Eagle, is depicted on the reverse, with the coin's denomination "3" below. The legend is the Latin abbreviation for "Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Tyrol," with the date "1631."
