Why purchase this 3 Kreuzer silver coin of the Holy Roman Empire?

The reign of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor (1619-1637), is primarily characterized by the Thirty Years' War. The conflict took place between various Protestant and Catholic states as a result of Ferdinand's attempt to establish Roman Catholicism as the singular religion of the Empire. This 3 Kreuzer Silver coin was struck in 1630 for Ferdinand II.

Impressive 3 Kreuzer Coin Design

Ferdinand II is featured on the obverse, in a traditional laureate pose. The legend "FERDI II D G R I S A G H B REX," (Ferdinand II by the Grace of God Emperor of the Romans, King of Germany, Hungary and Bohemia) accompanies the portrait, with the coin's face value "3."

On the reverse, the inscription "1630 ARCH AVS DVX BVR STYRIAE," meaning "Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Styria" encircles a composite image of three shields bearing the emblems of Austria, Burgundy and Styria.

Extremely Fine 40 with Story Vault Packaging

Struck 1630 at the Graz Mint, this Ferdinand II Silver 3 Kreuzer coin has been reviewed by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), earning the grade Extremely Fine (XF) 40. The Medieval coin features fully struck detail, with slight flattening on the highest elements of the design. The coin is encapsulated in a labeled NGC holder beside a summarization of Ferdinand's time on the throne, sealed in a Story Vault display case.
