Why purchase this coin of the Holy Roman Empire struck for Emperor Ferdinand II?

A member of the House of Habsburg held the title of Holy Roman Emperor from 1415 until 1740, its representative for the years of 1619-1637 being Ferdinand II. Struck at the Prague Mint in 1635, this Silver 3 Kreuzer coin of Ferdinand II measures approximately 21 mm in diameter.

Traditional Imperial Coinage Design

The right facing profile image of Ferdinand II appears on the obverse, featuring a remarkably detailed ruffled collar, the coin's face value "3" encircled below. Legend is inscribed in Latin, representing "Ferdinand II, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, always August, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia."

A double-headed Imperial Eagle adorns the reverse, between a crown above and the Mint mark of Prague below. Inscriptions include the date "1635" and "Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Tyrol" in abbreviated Latin.

Gorgeous Mint State 61

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this Austrian Silver 3 Kreuzer coin of Emperor Ferdinand II to be an impressive Mint State 61. The coin will show no evidence of circulation, exhibiting an average strike and reduced luster, with several contact marks of varied sizes. The coin is encased in an NGC holder with certification label and includes a story card briefly describing the historical significance of the Kreuzer and Ferdinand II, attractively packaged in a clear Story Vault display case.

This Austrian 3 Kreuzer coin of the Holy Roman Empire will make an outstanding addition to your Medieval collection!
