Why add this Madonna and Child Silver Denar of Renaissance Hungary in Story Vault Holder to your collection?

The Madonna and Child Silver Denar was minted in Hungary from the mid-1400's until the early 1600's. During that time, the Kingdom of Hungary was in a state of constant battle with the Ottoman Empire, but managed to stay prosperous, and steadily minted good quality silver coinage throughout the period. Struck in 1542 in the mining town of Kremnica (central Slovakia) by Magyar craftsmen for Hungarian King Ferdinand I, this Silver Denar measures 15-16 mm in diameter, and weighs 0.5-0.6 g.

Beautiful depiction of Madonna and Child

The obverse illustrates the classic mother and child scene of baby Jesus in the arms of the crowned Madonna. Inscribed "PATRONA VNGARIE," which translates to "the Patron Saint of Hungary," along with the Kremnica Mint mark "K" and "B."

The reverse displays the image of the four-part shield of the Hungarian Royal Coat of Arms, surrounded by the inscription "FERDINAND D G R VNG," meaning "Ferdinand, by the grace of God, King of Hungary" and "1542."

Gorgeous Mint State 62

This coin has been authenticated by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) to be a Madonna and Child Silver Denar of Hungarian King Ferdinand I, struck 1542, and graded Mint State 62. The coin is enclosed in a clear story vault case, accompanied by a story card with a historical narrative explaining the inspiration for the coin's design. Mint State is attributed to a coin that was produced for regular distribution but never experienced circulation. Overall eye appeal is generally acceptable with multiple large and small scuff marks evident.

This Madonna and Child Hungarian Denar of Ferdinand I will make an impressive addition to your collection!
