Why purchase this 10-Pack of Emergency Production 2020-(S) American 1 oz Silver Eagle Struck at the San Francisco Mint?
COVID-19 set back the United States Mint's production of the world's favorite bullion coin in 2020. To keep up with demand and to off-set production delays, the Mint authorized a production run of 2020-dated bullion issues at the San Francisco Mint. NGC has certified that these coins were part of that historic run and that they qualify for the grading company's Emergency Production pedigree.
Beautiful Patriotic Designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti
Obverse: On the obverse is Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design. Liberty carries branches, which represent civilian and military honors, as the morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon. Inscriptions on the obverse include the figure's name, "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2020." Adolph Weinman was a prominent sculptor who played an important role in America's numismatic renaissance of the early 20th century. His best known contributions to the effort were the Mercury dime and the Walking Liberty half dollar. Today, his sculptures can still be seen in cities across America.
Reverse: On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States that was designed by John Mercanti. The top portion of the design consists of thirteen stars, which symbolize the country's original states, while the bottom part features a union shield that is protected by an eagle. Along the rim are three inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti is one of the most significant figures in modern numismatics. He is the most prolific designer of coins and medals in the history of the US Mint. His time with the institution included a spell as its twelfth Chief Engraver.
