About MCM

John Maben
John Maben

John Maben, CEO

ModernCoinMart owner John Maben entered the coin business full time in 1978. Now in his fourth decade as a Professional Numismatist, his past experience includes over eight years at NGC as Executive Vice President and a Grading Finalizer. John was also a part-time grader at PCGS in the late 1980's. The number of coins he has bought, sold, and professionally graded places his experience level in a very elite group - far less than one percent of all Professional Numismatists.

His greatest success to date has been piloting his ModernCoinMart division, launched in 2004, to a clear leadership position in the certified modern coin market. A true visionary, John wrote the business plans and was also largely responsible for creating Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) and Comics Guaranty (CGC), though he is no longer a shareholder.

John Maben Rare Coins, Inc is an NGC, PMG, & PCGS Authorized Dealer and a CCE/FACTS Exchange Member. John Maben is a Life Member of ANA, FUN, CSNS, and GSNA. John Maben is also a proud member of the prestigious and highly regarded Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG). Along with partner Jay Rudo, his experienced staff is ready to help you achieve your numismatic goals, whatever they might be.

Jay Rudo, President

ModernCoinMart president Jay Rudo has been an integral part of the day to day operations of JMRC, Inc. since July, 2007. His experience with coins and other dealers have no-doubt helped the company grow into being one of the largest and most respected sources for Modern Coins in the nation.

Jay discovered coin collecting when he was 12 years old when he found a circulated 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. That simple coin hooked him into a lifelong love of the beauty and history of coin collecting. In the summers he would work all week cutting lawns and doing odd jobs and then riding his bike to the coin store on Saturday to buy something cool. Do kids still do that? He has worked in the coin business his whole adult life. First at a regular Coin Shop and then moved to Dallas, Texas as a Numismatist at Dillon Gage Metals. In 2001 he opened his own successful coin company and decided to go into partnership with John Maben in 2007 and the rest is history. He is a life member of the American Numismatic Association, Professional Numismatists Guild and Florida United Numismatists.

Jay enjoys spending time with his 2 amazing daughters, bike riding and going to the gym. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a marketing degree. Besides coins Jay collects fossils and mineral specimens. When he retires his dream is to travel the world going to exotic places to look for fossils.
