2006-W Burnished Silver Eagle NGC MS70 Mint State 70 #16768

This coin introduced mint state Silver Eagle collectors to the concept of collecting the series not just as a date set but also by mint mark. With a mintage of just 466,573 coins it inhabits a mintage class equivalent to 1882-1884 Carson City Dollars and like the CC Dollars that came before them it is a royal coin in the midst of a massive series. The combination of being low mintage and grading poorly make NGC MS-70 examples of the issue increasingly hard to find. As more and more of the 2006-W Silver Eagles that look good pass through the grading services the number of raw coins that can make grade keep shrinking. Prices on these coins are still reasonable for the moment.
